We work with investors and development finance institutions (DFIs) to understand labour and human rights risks related to business risk. We provide data and insight on labour issues, developments and trends around the globe and provide strategic support both internally and with external stakeholders businesses are required to report to.

What We Do

We carry out due diligence against IFC performance standards particularly where there is a high risk of severe labour issues and develop due diligence tools/frameworks where traditional approaches do not cut it. We also build portfolio businesses’ capacity to implement environmental and social action plans (ESAP) action plans and work with them to develop and implement effective environmental and social management systems (ESMS). We also advise investors and portfolio businesses on how to navigate through crisis without harming human rights.

Why Partner With Us?

Our unique approach to working with investors and development finance institutions (DFIs) enables us to:

  • Perform risk profiling by mapping potential human rights and labour risks across ESG stock portfolios categorising stocks as high, medium, or low risk. Stocks will not be viewed individually, instead they will be grouped around key parameters including:
    • Country of operations
    • Sector
    • Commodity
  • Host screening calls with investees to understand key challenges and potential risks within their operations. These conversations with HR and Operational managers are framed around four indicators that allow investors to understand the potential challenges of investees regarding managing their business whilst providing decent work for their staff. The four indicators are:
    1. Industry
    2. Workforce
    3. Transparency
    4. Capacity
  • Brief investors and DFIs on emerging human rights and workforce issues by country and/or industry.
  • Provide investors, investees and DFIs with:
    • Support for developing a business case for human rights and social sustainability.
    • Insights on how investors are using social sustainability as an indicator for financial performance.
    • Identifying actions investment managers can undertake to effectively identify risks and support investees.
