Founded in 1997, Impactt is a leading employee-owned consultancy that specialises in ethical trade and human rights.

We act as a critical friend to our clients, supporting them to identify and tackle human rights risks across their business in a way that positively impacts the workers in their supply chains and local communities. So Far

Impactt foundedOpened Our China OfficeLaunched the Overtime Project, working in China to use improved productivity and human resources management to reduce overtime and increase pay.Temporary Labour Working Group was a UK industry consortium set up to establish a set of minimum standards for employment agencies working in agriculture and horticulture, convened by the Ethical Trading Initiative and managed by Impactt. It led to the passing of the Gangmasters (Licensing) Act 2004 and the formation of the Gangmasters Licensing Authority. Introduction of the OperationalProcedures for the Remediation ofChild Labour. The first operationalguidelines for companies to put the interests of child workers first, now widely adopted.Launch of the Benefits for Business and Workers Programme which has now reached 204 factories, in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Madagascar, and over 307,000 workers. The programme resulted in increases in pay, reductions in overtime, less absenteeism and labour turnover and improvements in productivity and quality.19972002200320082010Opened Our India Office2013Launched the UP! Programme which works with Awaj Foundation in Bangladesh to train the female front-line trade union leaders of the future. To date this programme has been delivered to over 6,000 female workers in Bangladesh.Began collaboration with the Qatar Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy resulting in transparent reporting of labour standards issues and a commitment to repay US$ 30 million to workers who had paid recruitment fees.Launched thePrinciples and Guidelines for the Repayment of Migrant Worker Recruitment Feesand Related Costs following consultation with over 200 expert stakeholders from international bodies, governmental organisations, international trade unions, multi-stakeholder initiatives, investors, CSOs, consultancies, lawyers, activists, campaigners, employers, former migrant workers and multi-national companies.Transitioned to an employee ownership modelwith the Impactt Employee Trust becoming the majority shares stakeholder in the business.Opened our Bangladesh office2014201620202021
