Labour & Human Rights Field Researcher

Short-term consultancy opportunity conducting worker interviews for an international human rights consultancy.

Project background

Impactt is commissioned to conduct a human rights assessment of a company in Mongolia. The purpose of the assessment is to help the company to gain an understanding of the labour rights risks experienced by its workforce and assess the effectiveness of management systems in mitigating these risks.

Impactt is looking for a worker interviewer who can complete the following tasks:

  • Attend briefing calls with the Impactt team. 
  • Conduct worker interviews of contracted workers in Mongolian.
  • Attend debrief sessions with the Lead Assessor throughout the assessment. 
  • Support with logistical arrangements for the interviews, where required. 
  • Reporting findings from interviews in a pre-designed template. 

Timeline

The exact timelines for the assessment are still to be decided, however this will likely be taking place at the start of December 2025. We expect that the worker interviewer activities will take place over the course of three to four to five days.

Impactt may be in touch with the candidate regarding additional projects in the future depending on the demand in Mongolia.

Role title – Labour & Human Rights Field Researcher

Preparation – 4 hours

Worker interviewer activities – 40 hours (over 4 days)

Reporting- Up to 4 hours

General Experience 

  • Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience delivering individual or group interviews (preferably working with vulnerable groups of people). 
  • Good understanding of national labour law.
  • Exposure to international labour law.
  • Experience in social compliance auditing or labour rights assessments/investigations. 

Specific Experience 

A good understanding of labour rights risks faced by subcontracted workers in international supply chains.  

Language 

  • Good written and spoken English. 
  • Fluency in Mongolian language. 

Right to work 

Must have a legal right to work in Mongolia.

Please note: This is not a full-time role. Once you have successfully applied, you will join our pool of associate consultants and will also be considered for additional short-term and long-term assignments in the region as and when they come up. You will have the freedom to work on projects that interest you and receive a contract form for each project you support on.
