Impactt conducted a human rights risk assessment for a Fund Manager company in 2021 as part of their investment process to identify and assess human rights issues and risks in the India supply chain of a company they were acquiring. The purpose of the assessment was to help the investors understand the risks and provide recommendations on post-investment value add, particularly on workers.
- Reviewed the companies buying practices and relationships with suppliers in India to understand how they work and map the supply chain.
- Interviewed key stakeholders to understand their knowledge and awareness of human rights issues in India and the sectors.
- Conducted four on-site assessments to understand the actual impact of the company’s business and procedures, particularly on workers.
- Provided an overview of business buying practices and procedures, including the relationship and communication with suppliers.
- Defined the key human rights risks in the form of indicators and the root causes of these.
- Developed a 3-year strategic planning with actionable recommendations for each year, including management systems at the company (buying level) and supplier level, policies and communications between different stakeholders throughout the supply chain, and capacity building.
- The company is currently hiring key persons to oversee the plan’s implementation together with Impactt.
